Performance & smoothness overhaul

June 22, 2026
  • Perf Server CPU cut from 68% to 51% — idle rooms now tick at 10Hz instead of 30Hz.
  • Fix Client prediction now reconciles only on fresh server data — eliminates the "snake fighting the cursor" feel.
  • Fix Interpolation buffer widened — fixes the intermittent 3–5 frame freeze players reported.
  • Fix Respawn no longer briefly locks your snake in place — momentum carries through.
  • Perf Render-path gradient caching — removes tens of MB/s of allocations and the GC hitches they caused.
  • Perf AI food-search moved to a spatial grid — ~10× cheaper per decision.

First-win onboarding & survival celebrations

  • New Five guaranteed color-matched starter pellets ring every fresh spawn — your first bite lands within seconds.
  • New Early milestones at 100, 250 and 500 mass — new players hit their first celebration in ~15 seconds.
  • New Survival milestones at 60 seconds, 2 minutes and 5 minutes alive.
  • New "Next milestone" progress bar under your mass counter — a visible goal at all times.
  • New Session streak counter on the death screen — frames retries as a run, not a failure.
  • Fix Auto-respawn shortened from 5s to 3s.

The mobile rework

  • Mobile All-new floating virtual joystick — touch anywhere in the lower screen, drag to steer.
  • Mobile Integrated boost: pull the stick to its edge and boost engages automatically, with hysteresis so it never flickers.
  • Mobile Pointer capture — a thumb sliding off the pad no longer drops your input.
  • Mobile 33% wider pellet-collection radius on touch devices.
  • Mobile Screen wake-lock keeps your display on mid-game.
  • Mobile Decluttered HUD: leaderboard and minimap removed on small screens — the arena owns the display.
